Our Practice Awards runners-up

Kylie Bailey, Liverpool JIRT; Family Based Services team, Maroonbaliin and Kate Roels, Blacktown CSC.

Excellence in Practice - Kylie Bailey, child protection caseworker, from the Liverpool Joint Investigation Response Team. Kylie came into the lives of children, family and community after a harrowing incident of abuse. She collaborated with our partners in NSW Police and Health and provided support to all in involved protecting children from further harm.

Excellence in inspiring Aboriginal Practice - Family Based Services team from Maroonbaliin. Over the past 2 years, this team has been critical in keeping Aboriginal children in the care of their parents in 80% of crisis referrals. To put that into perspective, that’s 91 children who have been able to stay with parents due in part to the work of this incredible team. Their success is in part thanks to their ability to acknowledge the power of community and culture when it comes to keeping children safe.

Excellence in Collaborative Practice - Kate Roels, Manager Client Services, Blacktown CSC. Kate’s grassroots and collaborative approach to child protection taps into one our greatest resources: community. Her inspired approach has forged new partnerships between local NGOs and has helped to bolster the skills of those local service providers.
